Alaska is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. It is bursting at the seams with natural beauty and wildlife. Bald Eagles just sit and hang out in trees and Moose wander around just like deer in the northeast. One of the biggest attractions in Alaska is Denali National Park. It is home to Mt McKinley, or “Denali.” McKinley is the third tallest peak in the world, the biggest in North America and the largest on land. On Tuesday we are going on a flight-seeing tour around Denali, which I am pretty stoked about. On the way to Willow this morning, for the official start of the race, we were lucky enough to see McKinley in the far distance. It almost looked like a mirage. A far away, brilliant illusion. Even though we were 100 + miles away, it was still huge. Apparently during the winter months McKinley is only visible a handful of times. At least that’s what the locals say. I was lucky enough to snap a few pictures.
